Since there are so many firewalls out there I cant make a poll that includes them all. The firewall I find the best is Outpost Firewall. I love the plugins that you can download, like PC Flank Whoeasy where you can find where the hacker lives and report them. It is very simple for beginners, but includes modifications for advanced firewall users. I ran many tests on my network and most of my ports are stealthed and the few left are all blocked. I couldn't find any open port that I didn't open on purpose for certain applications. I am interested in seeing your opinions.

Aside from Windows Firewall (which by the way most often says that it is not enabled even after I have done all the clicking that I should) I have no other firewall. ZoneAlarm might be a good choice since I have heard a lot of good things about it and it is free. I haven't heard of Outpost Firewall before. I'll check that out and hope it is also available for free.

Around 2 years back, I was really worried about my computer's security and how to save my computer from hacking activities. Then I tried several firewalls, and I found that ZoneAlarm is best for novice computer users like me. It is free and easy to use.

consider this another vote for the free Zonealarm.
I've been using it with no trouble on all of my PCs as I trade up from one to the next. I remember a site - I think it was called "sheilds up!" - not that I've been there for a while now; but last time I checked my PC with Zonealarm on, I got a clean result from all the tests then. |
