I have a Hitachi 42 inch plasma, and I love it! When buying this tv, I looked at several available options at Best Buy, and I finally decided on the plasma. Overall, the contrast is better in plasma, and the blacks are really black on plasma, while black may appear slightly "washed out" in LCD.

Screen was one major concern with plasmas. However, new technologies have virtually eliminated that problem. For example, in my tv, every few minutes the picture is moved one pixel to the left or to the right. This movement reduces the chance of screen burnout, but the movement cannot be perceived by the human eye and brain.

Been looking at TV's and have to say plasma seems the way to go as you can get larger sizes picture quality is better and well pricing is pretty much the same across the board.

I agree. With current market conditions and current technology, I think plasma gives you more bang for your buck. I absolutely do not regret buying my Hitachi Plasma.

I am trying to upgrade my TV, from the old tube to something big and beautiful But I know nothing about TV's

Plasma or LCD? What's a good price? Whats a good brand?

Any thoughts on this TV:
Samsung LN46A540 46" 1080p LCD HDTV with Ultra Clear Panel and ATSC/QAM Tuner

I dont know what all the stuff after brand and size means.

I saw it on this website 4sale4now - dont know the site, but is the price good? Its their 'deal for the week'

I would rather choose an LCD TV. It lasts longer and is normally a lot cheaper.
